Reclaim, Recycle, Reuse

The world is currently facing an environmental crisis, with many of our natural resources dwindling.  Therefore, it is imperative we all do our part to help reduce our environmental footprint.  As an artist who specializes in hand-carved wood art pieces, I believe that reclaiming, recycling, and reusing found wood is crucial to reducing waste and conserving our natural resources.

As the quote by Pete Seeger states, "If it can't be reduced, reused, repaired, rebuilt, refurbished, refinished, resold, recycled, or composted, then it should be restricted, designed, or removed from production."  This statement emphasizes the importance of finding ways to reuse and repurpose items that would otherwise be thrown away.

As an artist, I believe using reclaimed wood is a great way to create beautiful and unique wood art pieces while also reducing waste.  Reclaimed wood is wood that has been salvaged from old buildings, shipping pallets, or fallen trees.  By using reclaimed wood, I am reducing the demand for newly harvested wood, which can help to preserve our natural resources and reduce the impact of deforestation.

Additionally, reclaimed wood has a unique character that cannot be replicated with newly harvested wood.  Each piece of reclaimed wood has a history and a story to tell, and incorporating this character into my wood art pieces adds to their beauty and authenticity.

But what about recycling and reusing found wood?  Often, I find my pieces of wood that are too small or too odd-shaped to be used in a wood art pieces, but rather than throwing them away, I turn them into something new.  By doing this, I am reducing waste and finding creative solutions to use what might otherwise be discarded.

Perhaps the coolest aspect of using recycled wood in my art is the process of turning it back into a carved tree art piece.  It is incredibly satisfying to take a piece of wood that has been discarded and give it new life as a beautiful wood art pieces.

Reclaiming, recycling, and reusing found wood is vital in my art of hand-carved wood art pieces.  It not only reduces waste and conserves our natural resources, but it also adds character and authenticity to my artwork.  By following the philosophy of reducing, reusing, and recycling.  I am doing my part to create a more sustainable world while also creating beautiful pieces of art.
